  • +- How can I ask the property owner a question?

    On every property listing you will see the owners profile under which there is a "Contact the Owner" button. Click on this to open up the enquiry form and enter your question. You will then receive a prompt response either from the owner or RentalTrips.

    Most property owners opt to have the RentalTrips team answer questions on their behalf. This ensures that you get a prompt response and if we can't answer your question we will get you an answer directly from the owner quickly. In some cases the owner will respond directly to you via the RentalTrips secure messaging service.

  • +- How do I book?

    Booking couldn't be easier. On the property listing page, simply select the check-in and check-out dates of your stay and click "Check Availability and Book". If the property is available for the given dates you will receive an instant quote. You will then be offered a "Book Now" button which will take you to our secure booking page. Simply review the booking information and fill out your basic details. When you are happy click "Pay Now" and you will be taken to our secure payment provider PayPal where you can choose to pay by credit card or your PayPal account.

  • +- My booking was confirmed, what do I do next?

    When you book online, the owner will receive your booking request and in most cases instantly accept it. In some cases it may take a maximum of 24 hours until they confirm. We will not charge your credit card until the booking is accepted but your stay is reserved meaning no one else can book the same dates.

    Once accepted you will receive a booking confirmation email. This will contain the owners personal contact details. As soon as a booking is confirmed the owner will email or telephone you to arrange the check-in details. We insist that owners contact guests promptly to make you feel welcome and ensure that you have an enjoyable and hassle-free experience.

    The owner will confirm your arrival details and provide you with clear details on how and when to pay the balance, how to get to the property, how to check-in and how to contact them or their on-site property manager should you need to.

  • +- How do I check-in and how are keys exchanged?

    Every property owner has a system for key exchange whether it's direct with them or using a local property manager. They will communicate to you directly once your booking is confirmed and contact details have been exchanged.

    Methods may include a personal welcome at the property from the owner or their property manager, lock boxes or emailing you a keyless entry code.

  • +- Can I cancel a booking and what is the cancellation policy?  

    Guests can cancel their booking at any time, but only in accordance with the RentalTrips cancellation policy. The deposit is non-refundable and the balance of the rental fee is always due at the owner specified period before the arrival date and payable by the guest, direct to the owner. If the cancellation is less than the owner specified period for balance payments prior to the stay and the balance has been paid to the owner, this balance is non-refundable unless the owner is able to re-let the property for the booked period. At the owners discretion, they may refund the guest to the sum receivable from the re-letting after deducting costs and expenses incurred by them.

    Provided cancellation is unavoidable, these costs should be recovered by a guests personal travel insurance. We strongly recommend that guests take out insurance to protect against unavoidable cancellation, accident, illness or injury, or breakdown to your vehicle on a self-drive holiday.

    As with any type of holiday booking RentalTrips recommend travellers invest in suitable Travel Insurance when they make their booking. This covers unexpected events and gives you piece of mind so you can sit back, relax and enjoy your trip.

    RentalTrips recommend Europ Assistance who have partnered with HomeAway.co.uk to provide unique travel insurance tailored to holiday rental cover and from as little as £21 it protects you against non-refundable holiday payments of up to £5,000 should you need to cancel your trip at the last minute.

    Europ Assistance also includes lost, damaged or stolen baggage coverage, roadside assistance, medical and legal assistance, and a 24-hour assistance hotline.

  • +- When will I receive the owners email address and phone number and property address?

    Just as the owner receives your contact details upon booking confirmation, you will receive the owners details at the same time. Once the owner accepts and confirms a booking request you will receive their name, email address, phone number and property postal address.


Payments

  • +- When does an owner receive my deposit payment?

    We release payment to the owner within two UK business days after booking confirmation providing there are no reported problems by either party.

  • +- What are the additional fees and how do I pay them?

    Owners may sometimes set additional fees for stays at their property. They can be auto-applied to the rates and will be added in to the total price at the time of booking. Or they can be excluded from the online booking total and in this case the owner will arrange payment at the time of arrival or check-out.

    These fees can be local taxes, final cleaning, damage deposit or late check-out fees. The owner decides if these fees are added to the total price quoted at the time of booking or extras to be paid locally on arrival. No one likes additional charges so we recommend owners factor their fees into their rates wherever possible.

  • +- Why can't I pay the owner directly?

    We ask guests to pay RentalTrips in order to offer an easy and secure payment system that instantly confirms your booking online. We hold the deposit payment amount securely and release it to the property owner within two UK business days after booking confirmation. Guests confirm their booking and pay their deposit to RentalTrips rather than the owner directly using our easy and secure payment system, meaning you don't need to worry about transferring money to strangers.
